Our methodology

Show the record. Show the source.

SPN supports Palestine openly. Our records describe specific evidence and link to its source, with publishing safeguards that differ by dataset.

Source-backed records and publishing checks

Structured records carry source links and, where used, a publishing status. Content review is reflected in those supplied records; the website displays them rather than independently re-checking the evidence on every visit. Automated content synchronization updates the site’s data files. Synchronization is not itself an editorial review.

Take Action and Voices explicitly filter for VERIFIED records. Artists and Movies consume publication-ready data files; their current readers do not independently check a status field. Brands also uses publication-ready data and excludes records without a source URL. Other datasets apply their own required-field checks. There is no universal VERIFIED filter across every page.

A VERIFIED label is a record-level publishing status, not independent certification or a guarantee that all associated claims are true. Source links let you inspect the evidence and its scope.

Artists: a documented action

Artist records describe a specific sourced public action, such as a statement or participation in a public initiative. That action is not a blanket endorsement of an artist’s views, work, or conduct. Identity, association, or silence alone is not evidence of an action.

Brands: distinct kinds of support

Palestinian-owned and made in Palestine describe ownership and production. Donations, fundraising, and commercial solidarity describe different actions. These categories are not interchangeable, and a commercial statement is not proof that funds reached a recipient. Read the recorded action and its source rather than treating inclusion as a general ethical certification.

Donations: the destination, not a financial audit

An official donation URL identifies where you can begin donating on an organization’s website. Appeal pages and general websites are separate fields, not substitutes for a donation destination. Listing an official link is not a financial audit, an assessment of overheads, or a guarantee of how money is used. “100% direct” means SPN never handles your donation—not that 100% reaches beneficiaries.

Voices: identity and profile links

Profile and channel records identify journalists, reporters, and organizations to follow. Verification of a profile’s identity does not establish the accuracy of every post, continued activity, or an ongoing assessment of their reporting.

Films: a cultural and educational directory

Film records provide title information, descriptions, categories, and available IMDb, official, or watch links. Inclusion is not verification of every claim made in a film or a guarantee that a watch link remains available in your location.

Learn: attribution and context

Concepts, timeline entries, briefings, and educational sources link to material behind the content. Dates and procedural labels matter: a reported figure, estimate, allegation, application, provisional measure, advisory opinion, arrest warrant, judgment, and conviction describe different things. A linked source supports a particular record; it is not proof of every related assertion.

Government contacts: a public channel

Take Action requires a contact marked VERIFIED, an official source URL, and a usable email address or contact-form URL matching its contact type. This checks whether the record can support the handoff; it does not guarantee a reply, delivery, or policy change. Some local-language drafts still carry an explicit warning that native-speaker editorial review is incomplete.

Sources can change

Pages can move, statements can change, and contact channels can close after a record is prepared. Published dates describe the material or action recorded; they are not a promise of a recent audit. SPN does not claim a fixed re-review schedule or continuous monitoring of external links.

The Sources page lists government contact reference pages, not every source used on SPN. Other sources appear with their records and in Learn’s Primary Sources. See Corrections for how to identify a mistake and the current submission-channel limitation.
